I have come out of the woodworks. Life is good but busy as you all know.
I looked back at a few comments about step 3 that some of you wrote. Has anyone taken it yet? when do you plan on doing it? I signed up for the end of April...I'm on "Radi-holiday" that month so I should have some time to study. I plan on using Boards and Wards and maybe Crush Step 3 but I would be willing to go in on USMLE World with somebody if they are doing that. Let me know.
By the way remember never to mix heroin, alcohol, and sawed off shotguns. They don't mix very well. The unfortunate kid that did somehow managed to shoot himself in the buttock, shatter his proximal femur, and nearly miss his man parts as it exited his front anterior thigh. Fortunately for him, he did miss those parts. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, he can still pass on his smart genes to the next generation. Good times doing ortho!

i tried to sign up to take it at the end of march because i'll have a lot of reading time during my rotation this month, but yesterday when i tried to sign up i found out that at the only testing center that isn't two hours away that offers the COMLEX (this one is only a half hour away) the earliest available date is the last day of may. after you take it let us know what you thought and what helped. my plan is to just read crush for step 3. hope it's enough.
Whatever happened to the old adage: For Step I study for 2 months, for step II study for 2 weeks, for step III take a number 2 pencil?
I'll be taking it at the end of March... should have some good time to study. Will be doing Boards & Wards but not sure what else.
Hey I don't start my
"Radi-Holiday", until July 1st. I am also plannig on end of April for comlex III, thinking about USMLE -World. It might be difficult to cordinate a schedule 3 time zones away.
Remeber when we got Kaplin Qbank for step one, and developed that complex schedule. Yet every time one of us started taking a test the screen would "freeze-up" followed by a distant laugh. All you had to due was look over the cubie whole and OMS Caywood was laughing in his glory!!!
Took it in January. No need to study boys, I am being serious. Did not even look at OMM and read OB and Peds sections from boards and wards. No USMLE world questions. Not the greatest score but an 84 will get you through. I took it during one of my ward months also. Just enjoy the vacation and forget studying. PS I hate surgery. My second and final month. These people hate themselves and their families and anybody who is happy with life. Just thought I would whine a bit. Any questions give me a call my cell is 724-612-7398. Cranberry pants is out.
Took it in November and I agree with Dave. Spent two weeks and over studied. Went through Crush twice and did 3/4 of questions from USMLE world and reread all my path and pharm notes from AZCOM. I'm kidding about the notes part. You'll still walk out thinking you missed a lot (same type of comlex crap, vague questions like step 1 & 2). If I had to do it again, I don't think I would do USMLE world as comlex has much shorter question stems and they test you on more basic stuff then the depth of USMLE world/ USMLE. A lot of the questions you just can't study for. Especially the stupid matching questions. You'll have ~5matching questions at the end of each block (use each answer once, more than once or not at all) and these were pretty specific.
Was it just me or were there no real straight forward OMM somatovisceral questions? Studied 2 hours for OMM and was good enough.
Same format as step 2- Eight 50 question blocks, 60 minutes each with optional 10 minute break between tests 2 & 3, 6 & 7. 45 minute optional lunch break. As usual, took 6 weeks to get score back.
