Anyone taken step 3 yet? If not what do yall hear on difficulty or study time required for normal people or slightly below normal? This is serious, $600.00 serious so lets go to work on getting some good info.
i've been meaning to ask this question for a while now but keep forgetting. thanks dave. especially all you guys at DO programs that probably actually know somebody who has taken comlex step 3, what have you heard about how hard, how long to study, what to study. i want to just take it cold turkey but i also don't want to fail it.
study time required for COMLEX: (according to previous takers) Two months for step 1 Two weeks for step 2 Number 2 pencil for step 3. That's my advice, Jason. Go cold turkey!
Level 3, taken in one-day, is a problem-based and symptom-based assessment integrating the clinical disciplines of emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, osteopathic principles, pediatrics, psychiatry, surgery, and other areas necessary to solve medical problems as defined by the Level 3 blueprint. Level 3, like Level 2-CE and Level 1, is problem-based and symptom-based in presentation. The examination consists of two four-hour test sessions, each containing questions related to diverse clinical presentations and principles. (This is from the Osteo site)
From reading some stuff off of Student doctor it seems that the general idea is that the test is as badly written as the first two steps, and it is hard to find any prep material that really simulates the actual test. That being said I am thinking I will probably use BW's and maybe one other book. Possibly thinking of USMLE world again mostly to get me back in the 'test taking mode'. Last year a couple of use went in togethor on USMLE world and it was cheap?
My guess is somone who has done alot of wards could take this cold turkey. Especially Dave, being that he is in an oseopathic internship where he probably gets to perform alot of OMM (Lucky guy).
I'm probably overthinking this test but given how I've only spent one month on wards, I probably need to pull a Weber and get out my old binder of Path notes and start from scratch. Although if they inlcude Fly fishing or kayaking on the test I'm good. I think I have finally perfected my ping pong game to where I can return one of shane's killer serves. ( that had to be one of the most frustrating parts of first year med school). Does any one else feel like they have gotten dumber over the last 6 months, we play medical Jepoardy for noon conference and the medical students kick my butt! Nobody wants the DO on there team. ( I hate being picked last)

I'm taking it two weeks, I will let you know. I'm doing first-aid and usmle world questions. I hope that is enough.
