Just Finished 108 hr week

From monday Sept 24 to monday Oct. 1 have been in the hospital for 108 hours. I am on General Surgery if have not already firgured that one out. Mon. through Thur. 12 hour days then Friday to Saturday I have a 30 hr call. Come home Saturday sleep and back on Sunday to Monday for the last 30 hrs.

So lets hear it boys who tops that one. Make sure and include the documentation. Oh and this morning as we are rounding with a new attending and I am trying to keep my eyes open I get my @$$ reamed for some other interns poor H&P. This was quite possibly the worst H&P and as I am presenting the patient because that guy got off service today and started something new there is no information. All I knew was that he did not crap for 4 days had abdominal pain and I ordered everything but the kitchen sink up his rectum. But did he go you ask and the answer is YES.

7 months left!

7 months left? Are you on the 10 month internship plan? Where do I sign up?

Sorry about the surgeons. Jerks.

7 more 4 week rotations plus vacation puts you at the end of residency or maybe there are 8 more 4 week rotations plus vacation. Either way I tell myself 7.

So do you document the 108 hours worked. Or do you have to fudge on your documentation. I guess the rule is no more than 160 hrs averaged over 2 weeks.

Glad I don't have Glover's surgery schedule. I'm on surgery right now and I worked two days last week, and have this afternoon off. Could have stayed late with the surgeon on call last week, but I didn't feel any need to hold the camera for a lap chole and lap appy, so he said I could go home. For us our hard months are medicine and ob. Those are coming up next.

during one week of sicu you do overnight call every other day and i never got out less than 30hrs on a call day in the sicu so 4 days in a a week of 30+ hours, you do the math. but since the anesthesia program runs the sicu and i don't want to get my own program in trouble i just document an 80 hour work week. but they did make a lot of changes because the other people did not lie like i did and so i don't think it'll be like that the next 2 times i have sicu this year.

Where is the documentation thing you speak of? They must graciously document for me, because I have never seen a form.
